Veteran's Day

As part of my calling we organize a Stake youth event every other month. We typically switch between fun and service. Tonight was a bit of both. We decided to throw a dinner party for all the veterans in the Stake. It was a big event, with around 225 people.

It was great. The veterans and their spouses really seemed to enjoy themselves and everyone appreciated the sentiment on their behalf. The highlight of the evening was a Taps solo by a 93 year old WWII vet. It was amazing.

After the dinner we headed up to the Huntsman Center to enjoy the Veteran's Day concert. This is an annual event celebrating our country and the people who've served in the military. We heard American classics like Stars and Stripes Forever mixed with new numbers including The Prayer.

It was a fun concert and my favorite part was the medley of service songs from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines. As each song was played the veterans from that branch of service stood as we all applauded. What a great moment.

Today was a very special event. I felt so proud of my country and even happier to recognize the great men and women of our Stake who've served.
