Super Bowl

Is there a better sports day each year than Super Bowl Sunday?! Every guy who's gotten yelled at for watching too much football each Sunday is suddenly given a 24 hour pass to sit and enjoy. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that it's the last Sunday for football for the next 7 months. But it also has to do with the fact that the Super Bowl is an event, something most people take part in. Even those with no idea who's playing tend to go to a party to see the spectacle surrounding the game. Whether you like the National Anthem, the half time show, the commercials, or maybe you want to watch the game - there's something for everyone.

This year we went down to Paul's house in Salem. It's the first time we've been to the Super Bowl party with Tara's family and it won't be the last. Lots of good food, tons of fun toys for the kids, and an HD tv for the game. I was in heaven. The game turned out great as well. Most of the house was rooting for the Saints and they came through with a 4th quarter comeback to seal the win. It was great to see the underdog rise up and beat the favorite.

Overall, I thought the commercials were fairly forgettable. A lot of tired jokes. Too many of the same old taglines. To see them all, check out Time's review. Still, one of my favorites was watching 88-year-old Betty White play football in this Snickers ad. Too funny.

Another favorite was the Simpsons' Coke ad. Classic.

What was your favorite commercial?
