Since it's been a bit slow in the "blog-read-blog" world of the Covilis, I decided to throw out a few vague ideas from the past couple of days.
1) In the world of lawn care: can we consider it an act of God that it's been over 90 more than half the month? If so, does that mean I don't have to worry about the fact that my lawn looks like mown hay with an occasional green patch!
2) Red Sox Nation: Since the Red Sox were in the midst of a 12 game winning streak (their longest since 1995) it makes sense that the first time I can actually sit down and watch a game is the one they lose (Marlins 5 - Red Sox 2). Oh well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, but couldn't it happen on a night when I work late!
3) Kennedy's sleeping habits: I can't wait for daylight savings time when it gets dark at 5 pm and stays that way until 8 am. Kennedy won't go to sleep until after 9 pm cause it so light outside and she gets up sometime after 6 am for the same reason! I would kill to get 7 hours of sleep - just once!
4) My teaching schedule: How is it that I've gone from Springville to Box Elder in the same week and that I won't be at the office again until the 17th of July? I know the summer gets busy for someone who trains teachers, but I've had the company vehicle at my house so often people are asking me if we've got a new white minivan (now you know I wouldn't do that!!!)

Guess who dropped by...
Saturday was a day to remember. It started off with a phone call to Chappo. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary, we discussed kids, sports, camping, church, and origami (just seeing if you're paying attention). It was good to talk to him, but it's not an unusual occurrence to talk to Chappo. A couple of hours later the phone rang with the caller ID saying Terry W. Warnick - that is unusual since I haven't had a call from that number since we started buying frozen pizza. Sorry, it's an inside joke. Bryan and his family were in town and it was a chance to get together. After talking with Bryan I went back outside to finish mowing the lawn when the phone rang again. This time Gabe was on the other end, wanting to catch up on the last couple of months. At this point I decided that it was useless trying to get anything done and called Jeff to see if he was a new papa of a bouncing baby boy. Of course, his son was born the previous week, but Jeff neglected to call anyone to let them know. If it doesn't involve the Utes or the Jazz don't call Jeff cause he won't have anything to say. I would've called Dave Brockbank, but since he moved to Missouri I don't have his phone number!
It was fun to get together with Bryan on Sunday. I haven't seen him since the 2005 Fiesta Bowl and a lot has happened since then. Between jobs, family, and church it seems like everything has changed over the past few years. We felt bad that we weren't able to see the rest of Bryan's family, it was a bit late for little ones that had an airplane ride the next day, but it was fun to get together and catch up on the latest dish. Plus, it was the first time I could personally rib him about his fashion choices. I don't know about the bow tie.
I'm curious if I can get some good cross-over blog buzz on this post. Kind of like when a character from one sitcom show up on another show for publicity. We'll have to wait and see if anyone else (hint, hint) mentions this visit.
PS - I have to include this link so you all can see what a professional Bryan has become. I'm so proud I knew him back when he still wore sweat pants and brown loafers.

Rainman
Last night we had a fireside at our Ward where we met the real Rainman, Kim Peek. It was so interesting! Kim remembers 98.7% of everything he reads, sees, or hears so you can pretty much ask him anything and he'll tell you about it. Some of the questions from last night were: What is the Zip Code from Cardston, Ontario? What TV stations do you get in South Carolina? What day of the week was I born on? What was the final score of game 6 of the 1975 World Series (I asked that one since it was 7-6 for the Red Sox? It was amazing to hear Kim rattle off the answers withough even blinking. He not only told me the score of Game 6, but gave me minute details about the players, and setting. Incredible!! It truly shows you what the brain is capable of. I just wish I could remember simple things like where I left my keys!

I came to church yesterday and found this plastered all over the place. Never agree to a photo unless you know what it is for!! I guess I've become the model for the ward Fiesta Picnic on Saturday.
