Praise to the Man

Last night the ward celebrated the 200th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Smith with a talent show. Every presentation centered on some aspect of the Prophet and his life. Some of the highlights included: Dick Engar playing a folk/rock tribute (he wrote the lyrics, but the tune is Robbie Robertson's), a play by the Primary (about the early life of the Prophet), a vignette of different stages of Joseph's life by the YM/YW (they really did a ton of memorization), and a multimedia slideshow about the Prophet by Kurt Larsen (unbelievable!).

It was a great evening and we had a good time as a family. Kennedy loved the different plays and she applauded after each one. Even if she spent as much time eating crackers as watching the performances, Kennedy was a lot of fun and everyone in the ward really loves playing with her.

Nervous Ute Fans

After watching every game of a disappointing season, the season ends this week with the big game at BYU. It hurts to say that I don't like the Utes chances this week. Since they've blown leads in almost every game this season, Saturday's contest is simply for pride and I don't think this Ute team has much. Oh well, you never know what can happen in the Rivalry game...

On the Road to 400

We decided to take advantage of the fact that there's no snow on the ground and went out geocaching today. Tara, Kennedy, Coleton, and I headed all around town to hunt for a few more of our hidden treasures. The caches led us along the East Bench area, and one even took us a bit up Millcreek Canyon. If there was a central theme to the caches we found today it would have to be: Micro. We only found two regular size containers today and the rest varied in size from the eraser on a pencil, to a medicine pill bottle.

Coleton even hid his first official cache as part of our travels today. He's been wanting to hide a micro near his school for the past couple of months, so we finally accomplished his goal with the new cache, Late 4 School. It should be a good challenge for any worthy seeker. Coleton also found his 100th cache on our trip. We were trying to get to cache #400 for the Crew, but we only made it to #396. Until next week.
